Breakpoint City - About us

Welcome to Breakpoint City! Located in Summit County, Ohio, Breakpoint City was built from the ground up after a generous donation by the Sploz Corporation. Though only a few decades old, our city has already been praised as being the global capital of cutting edge technology.

Supported by five anti-gravity generators located near Alberton, Ohio, the city hovers approx. 0.76 miles above the Earth. Our many spaceports make the city an inviting spot for space travelers from every corner of the galaxy. Breakpoint also is the current home of Sploz Co, makers of everything from advanced holography operating systems to fat-free yogurt.

Protecting our city are two bright, young heroes... and one talking dog:

Ben F. Megawatt is an inventor from the past with the power of electricity.

Sofia Jaypeg is a native Breakpointer who uses that extra 1% of her mind to thwart crime.

Dan, Ben's pet dog, is powerless, but dreams of one day overcoming his "second banana" status.

Can an inventor, a superhero, and a talking dog survive life in a fast-paced future?

About the author:

Brian Emling began cartooning in the third grade and has been drawing in notebook margins ever since. Breakpoint City began as his senior project for high school and was only supposed to last for three months. Having been bitten by the cartooning bug, Brian has kept the project going for more than four years. Currently, Brian is a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, majoring in New Media Design. He enjoys writing about himself in the third person, though that will stop at the end of this paragraph. Brian can't wait.

BIRTHDATE: Feb. 20, 1983

LOCATION: Home is somewhere between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, but for most of the year I'm in Rochester freezing to death.

INFLUENCIAL COMIC STRIPS: Requisite Calvin and Far Side aside, I read a lot of Fox Trot, Spy vs. Spy, and Sam and Max: Freelance Police.

WHAT'S IN MY DVD COLLECTION? Back to the Future and Star Wars trilogies, Futurama Seasons 1-2, Batman: the Animated Series, Finding Nemo, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Chicken Run, way too many episodes of MST3k, and of course, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Yeah, a lot of comedy and animation.

BRIAN WATCHES: Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Post-Season Baseball, [adult swim]

HOBBIES: Varies from week to week. The constants, however, are programming homebrew games, drawing, 3D animation, and retro video gaming (NES era.)

WHAT'S NEW MEDIA DESIGN?: Think graphic design, like logos and page design, but with added computer programming skills. We know our way around Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.
